Obituary of Joann Bannister

WEST COLUMBIA: A memorial service for Joann Shull Bannister, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Whaley Street United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Rex Wilson and Reverend Noble Miller. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whaley Street United Methodist Church, 517 Whaley St., Columbia, SC 29201. Mrs. Bannister went to be with the Lord Monday, October 01, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Floyd W. Shull and Pearl N. Shull. She was a long time member of Whaley Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bannister was retired as Assistant Director of the EKG Department at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital. She was a loving and devoted military wife, mother, military grandmother and sister who enjoyed cooking, traveling, and caring for all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She was the epitome of unconditional love. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Adolph F. Bannister of West Columbia; sons, Adolph F. Bannister Jr. of Pawley's Island, SC, Brock A. Bannister of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Alexander Bannister (Julia) of Costa Rica; grandchildren, Jonathan R. Bannister of San Diego, CA, Alyssa A. Bannister of Pawley's Island, SC and Kyra M. Bannister of Eugene, OR; sister, Sandra S. Baker (Bruce) of Winnsboro. Mrs. Bannister was preceded in death by a sister, Betty A. Corder and brother, Steve Shull.
