Obituary of John Houston

LEXINGTON—Funeral services for John Houston, 63, of Lexington will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Life Springs Worship Center, 5630 Platt Springs Road, Lexington. Officiating will be Rev. Derrick Gardner. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Life Springs Worship Center Food Pantry, PO Box 84726, Lexington, SC 29073. Mr. Houston, beloved husband of Alta B. Houston passed away on October 2, 2012. Born in Knoxville, TN, he was the son of Geraldine Greene Houston and the late Ceaser Buddy Houston. He was a member of Life Springs Worship Center and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was owner of Sissy's Furniture. John was a loving, caring person and father. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife, Alta B. Houston of Lexington; mother Geraldine Greene Houston of Knoxville, TN; daughter Sony Porter (David) of Lexington; sons, Dwayne Houston (Melissa) and John Houston (Stephanie) all of Lexington; brother, Ricky Houston of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Steven Houston, Emily Houston, John James Houston, Jr., Amanda Blair Houston, Allie Porter and David Porter, Jr.
