Obituary of Gloria Mitchell

Funeral services for Gloria H. Mitchell, 77, will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Reverend Julie Songer Belman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mitchell passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Born in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of the late Seth Hall and Beatrice Hall. She was raised in Greenville, SC and moved to Columbia, SC when she married the love of her life, Morgan H. Mitchell, Sr. in 1956. As an avid exercise enthusiast, she could be seen walking or riding her bike for miles around the city. She was also an avid tennis player. After raising her family, she was a Property Manager at Heathwood Court Apartments for several years. Surviving are her children: Diane Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Debbie (Lauren) Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Steve (Wanda) Mitchell of Simpsonville, SC, Morgan (Allison) Mitchell, Jr. of Columbia, SC, Brian Mitchell of Atlanta, GA and Gartha Mitchell (James) Sipe of Ft. Mill, SC. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jessica and Shannon Mitchell, Morgan, III and Selby Mitchell and Dylan and Nicholas Sipe. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Judith Hall, of Sarasota, FL, two nieces and her beloved cat, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Mitchell, Sr. The family would like to thank the staff and caretakers at Oakleaf Village of Lexington for their loving care of Mom. They would also like to thank Hospice Care of Tri-County for their care and support during this difficult time.
