Obituary of John Faulkner

LEXINGTON: Services for John W. Faulkner, 93, of Lexington, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home Lexington. Officiating will be his son-in-law, Reverend Gary N. Hillyard. Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends from l1a.m to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Faulkner, husband of 71 years to the late Lillie Mae Faulkner, died Thursday, November 1, 2012. He was born in Cottageville, SC to the late Willie A. Faulkner and Altie E. Stokes Faulkner. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having reenlisted four times and serving for over 25 years. He served during World War II and the Korean conflict as a hospital corpsman. Mr. Faulkner also proudly served the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) from 1936-1939. After his retirement, Mr. Faulkner and his wife returned to the family land in Cottageville, SC where he spent his time hunting, fishing and raising his Pedigree bird dogs. He was a member of the Elloree Hunting Lodge. He was loved by all and will be missed by many. Surviving are his daughters, Rosemary F. Reddick of Gilbert, and Cynthia F. Hillyard and her husband, Rev. Gary Hillyard of Anahuac, TX; and son, John W. Faulkner, Jr. of West Columbia; six grandchildren, Todd (Pam) Reddick, Crystal (Ernest) Graham, Maybry (Bob) Klein, Forrest (Lisa) Hillyard, Mindy Lake and Paul Hillyard; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
