Obituary of Vivian Derrick

CAYCE—Funeral service for Vivian Strong Derrick, 88, of Cayce, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. Alexander H. Twedt. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Transfiguration Lutheran Church, PO Box 2461, Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Derrick, beloved wife of 48 years to the late Melvin Ray Derrick, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Born in Hamlet, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Strong and Maggie Johnson Strong. She was a Charter Member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother. Surviving are her children, Charlene Derrick of West Columbia, Leonard R. Derrick of Cayce, Bob Derrick (Peggy) of Lexington and Charlotte Kemp (Ed) of Cayce; four grandchildren, Hank, Brett, Celeste, Jeffery, five great-grandchildren, Elayna, Noah, Madelyn, Joshua, Benjamin and Carolina and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Ray Derrick, Jr., five brothers and one sister.
