Obituary of John Graham

CAYCE: Funeral services for John Lewis Graham, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Congaree Ward, 1330 Whippoorwill Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Bishop Kyle McHugh will officiate. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Graham passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Born in Camden, SC, he was a son of the late Lewis Scott Graham and Frances Bringle Graham. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Congaree Ward; he served as a Branch President and on the High Counsel. Mr. Graham was in the first temple presidency of the L.D.S. Temple built in Columbia off Trotter Road, where he served as one of the First Counselors. He was retired from Bell South with over forty years of service; and was a member of the SC National Guard for over ten years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and served as President of the Midlands Council. He was a member of and served as President of the Civitans in Marion, SC and was Marion Civitan of the year. He also formed the first Junior Civitans in Marion, SC. Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Lorraine Graham of Cayce; daughter, Sherrie Page (Bryan) of Goldsboro, NC; sons, Gary Graham (Beki) of Atlanta, GA, Randy Graham (Harumi) of Honolulu, Hawaii and Chris Graham (Wendy) of Cayce; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sister, Edna Louise Anderson of Beaufort; 2 nephews and 3 nieces.
