Obituary of Iris Carney-Anderson

CAYCE: Funeral services for Iris Booker Carney-Anderson, 95, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at State Street Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Eddie Leopard and Reverend Tommy Pillow. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Corley, Kerry Brown, Bob Carney, Jay Fennell, Ed Carney, Justin Davis, Ashley Carney and Eric Carney. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State St., West Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063, State Street Baptist Church, 1420 State Street, Cayce, SC 29033 or for Bibles to be placed by Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214. Mrs. Anderson passed away peacefully Saturday, November 17, 2012, in Aiken, SC. Born in Raleigh, NC, she was a daughter of the late Fred Milton Booker and Rebecca Stephenson Booker. Iris had been previously married to George M. Carney (originally from Idaho Falls, ID) and then to George Anderson (from Honea Path, SC). She was a member of South Main Baptist Church, Greenwood, SC and of State Street Baptist Church, Cayce, SC. One of her greatest achievements was working with youth. Iris is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darla & Steve Corley of Aiken; sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ed & Susan Carney of Irmo and Bob & Debbie Carney of Savannah, GA; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
