Obituary of Lydia Campbell

Funeral services for Lydia C. Campbell, 87, of Cayce will be held at 2pm Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Kittiwake Baptist Church with entombment to follow in Southland Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Rev. Timothy W. Sieberhagen officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington chapel on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 11am-12:30pm. Memorials may be made to Kittiwake Baptist Church, 420 Kitti Wake Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170. Pallbearers will be Trey, Bryan, Alex and Marion Campbell, Will Owens and Marshall Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present Deacons of Kittiwake Baptist church and members of the Pioneer Sunday School Class. The family has entrusted Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington with the arrangements. Mrs. Campbell passed away Friday, November 23, 2012. Born on March 29, 1925 in Varnville SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Chisolm and Lillian Youmans Chisolm. She was a graduate of Varnville High School in 1942 and attended Mars Hill College in Mars Hills, NC. Mrs. Campbell was a charter member of Kittiwake Baptist church and a member of the Pioneer Sunday School Class. She served on many committees and was active in WMU. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, John Campbell; daughters, Patricia (Richard) Derrick of Lexington, SC and Barbara (William) Owens of Columbia, SC; son, John (Barbara L.) Campbell, Jr of Greenville, SC; sister, Vera (Dr. C.B) Taylor of Hendersonville, NC; grandchildren, Trey (Amy) Campbell of Charleston, SC, Bryan (Jaime) Campbell of Greenville, SC, Catherine (Marshall) Taylor of Columbia, SC, Melissa Harder of Lexington, SC, Will (Stephanie) Owens of Columbia, SC and Caroline Owens of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren, Ellie Graham Campbell, Emily Campbell and Grayson Campbell all of Charleston, SC, Avery Campbell, Gracie Campbell and Ashlynn Lydia Campbell all of Greenville, SC, Marsh Taylor, Jack Taylor and Campbell Taylor all of Columbia, SC and Hannah Harder of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Logan; brothers, Robert L. Chisolm and James L. Chisolm.
