Obituary of Mary Odale

Mary Odale (Pendarvis) Bolchoz O'Keefe, 96, formerly of Charleston, SC, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012, in Columbia. Born September 20, 1916, in Fort Motte, SC, she was a daughter of the late I. M. and Sallie (Traxler) Pendarvis. She was the youngest and last surviving member of six children, and lovingly known by her family as "Sister." In addition to her parents, Mrs. O'Keefe was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick W. Bolchoz, Jr., as well as her second husband, Harold O'Keefe. She is survived by three children, Grace Bolchoz Rush, Frederick W. Bolchoz, III, and Janice Bolchoz Broom and her husband Bob Broom; 8 grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends. She was devoted to her family, a true believer and devout Catholic, wonderfully gifted in many ways to include sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cooking and crossword puzzles. She taught by example, loved anything that sparkled, and made many friends along the way. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. O'Keefe enjoyed a career in sales, but found her calling as a Bridal Consultant and Director with Condon's Department Store in Charleston, SC. A private Memorial Mass for the family will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Matthew Gray officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), in Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
