Obituary of Jean Hubbard Park

Jean Elizabeth Hubbard Park, 94, of Columbia, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 1, 2012, at National Healthcare. Born Monday, May 16, 1918, in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of the late Dillard and Essie (Dunaway) Hubbard. Mrs. Park was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she received a Bachelor?s Degree in Education. She was an elementary school teacher as well as a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. An avid golfer, Mrs. Park was a former member of Columbia Country Club. Jean was an artist, and when she wasn?t spending time with her family, she enjoyed painting. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Park was preceded in death by her husband, William Gayle Park. The couple shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 64 years. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Straszheim and her husband Don, of Pacific Palisades, CA, and Suzanne Roberts and her husband Jim, of Columbia; four grandchildren, Heather O?Neil, Troy Straszheim, Jud Wolfskill and Phoebe Wolfskill; also six great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Park ? Serenity Gardens, 6601 Windwan Drive, Columbia, SC 29209, with Rev. Dr. Ellen Fowler Skidmore officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, 2751 Bull St., Columbia, SC 29201. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home, Columbia.
