Obituary of Alice Moore

HOPKINS: Graveside service for Alice Shirley Moore, 66, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012, in St. John Congaree Episcopal Church Cemetery, Hopkins, SC, officiated by Reverend Lloyd J. Edwards. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Alice passed away Friday, December 7, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late A. Talley Moore and Alice Shirley Moore. She was a lifelong resident of the family home place in Hopkins and attended St. John's Congaree Episcopal Church. Alice graduated from Lower Richland High School and Mary Baldwin College. She earned a Master's degree from Stetson University and a Juris Doctor from USC School of Law. Alice practiced law in Columbia with her husband for over 30 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include her loving husband, Frederick Gertz of Hopkins; daughter, Elizabeth G. Gertz of Columbia; son, Frederick T. Gertz of Riverside, CA; and brother, A. Talley Moore, III of Hopkins.
