Obituary of Mary Weathers Huff

CAYCE— Mary Lee Weathers Huff, 90, beloved wife of Owen Frederick Huff, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, December 9, 2012. Born in Bowman, SC on January 4, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Lowman Weathers and Winnie Wannamaker Weathers. Mary was a graduate of Bowman High School and Garrett Commercial School in Augusta, GA. She retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 20 years of service. She and her husband have been area residents since 1966, formerly of Hampton, SC. She was a member of Cayce United Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School class and the Susanna Wesley Circle. "Mamie", as she was known to her family, will be remembered fondly as a loving and caring person who had the gift for making others feel special. She unselfishly gave her time and talents to take care of others, attend special occasions of family and friends, and to serve her church community. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Cayce United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Joseph James, Jr. Entombment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7pm at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, daughter, Mary Beth Hill (David) of Charleston, grandsons John David Hill (Keri) of Seneca and Matthew Owen Hill of Charleston, brothers George A. Weathers of Cayce and W. Oscar Weathers (Barbara) of Bowman, sister- in-law Iyone Weathers , brother-in-law Roy Floyd, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth W.
