Obituary of Ruth Courtney

COLUMBIA: Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Neeley Courtney went to her Heavenly Home to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 14, 2012. Mrs. Courtney was born on July 10, 1923, a daughter of the late Oscar P. and Nettie Martin Neeley. Mrs. Courtney worked for Sunshine Cleaners for more than 30 years. She was a devoted and faithful member of Grace Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Bennett; brothers, Robert, (twin) Richard, Julian and Gene Neeley; and one sister, Helen Dial. Surviving to cherish her memories are her daughters, JoAnn Stretz, Sally Shealy (Tony), and Kay Bartholomew (Dave); sister-in-law, Mary Neeley; grandchildren, Pamela Pendleton, Susan Yelenic, Kimberly Diveley (Lee) and Matthew Bartholomew; 11 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 12:00 (Noon), in Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Pastor Brian Walker and Reverend Dewey Wise officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
