Obituary of Earl Bailey, 1st sgt US Army

Rev. H. Earl Bailey, Ret. US Army 1st. Sgt, 71, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel 4720 Augusta Road Lexington SC 29073.Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park Lexington, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Rev. Tim and Haven Bailey Scholarship Fund at Lander University, Greenwood, SC. Earl was born December 28, 1940, in Lexington, SC. He was a Veteran serving in the United States Army, retiring after 27 years of service. He was an Engineer for Sprint for the past 15 years and was an Ordained Minister at New Life Baptist Church in Olathe, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mamie Lorena Bailey, and son Rev. Timothy Courtney Bailey, siblings Lucian Harley (Jack) Bailey, Charlie Bailey, Wynez Rholetta, Louise Kenney, William Louis Bailey. Mr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Susan Bailey, of the home, 3 children Philip Earl Bailey (Mary), Bristol, TN, Donal Charles Bailey (Gosia), Warsaw, Poland, Joy Bailey Blind (Stan), Lexington, SC, 3 step children Jimmy Sihongheune, William Sihongheune, Julie Melinck(John), former wife Marlene Courtney Bailey, Ninety Six, SC, 2 sisters Loretta Gowan, Temple, TX, Mary Frances Quarles, Belvedere, SC, daughter-in-law Haven Bailey, Greenwood, SC, 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons, and numerous nieces & nephews.
