Obituary of George Murphy

COLUMBIA: Graveside service for George Arthur Murphy, Jr., 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Mr. Murphy died Friday, January 4, 2013. Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of the late George Arthur Murphy and Donella Crummie Murphy. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Murphy was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by all his family. Surviving is his significant other, Shelia Ashford; daughters, Denise Murphy Sanders of Columbia and Amy Murphy of West Columbia; son, George M. Murphy of Columbia; three grandchildren, Joshua Edward Sanders, Jessica Denise Sanders and Michael Morgan Murphy; aunt, Modell Blizzard of Columbia. Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his sister, Ella Louise Elliott.
