Obituary of George Sharpe

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral service for George M. Sharpe, 67, of West Columbia, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Bredholt, burial will following in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his honor to Palmetto Health Richland , 11th floor Oncology, 9 Richland Medical Park Drive, Columbia, SC 29203. Mr. Sharpe, beloved husband of Frances "Fran" Sharpe, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Born in Gaston, he was the son of the late Charlie Henry Sharpe and Latanzy Howell Sharpe. He retired from R.L. Bryan Company in 2001 after many years of loyal service. He found joy in his Facebook and Twitter friends and also his musician friends. Surviving in addition to his wife of 32 years, Fran Sharpe of West Columbia; daughter, Angela Attaway and step-daughter, Sherry Strickland (Michael); step-son, Michael Scott Terwilliger; grandchildren, Brandon Norman and Nicholas Norman, Tabitha Watkins, Sky and Tyler Attaway, Mariah Fox, great-grandchildren, Chandler Norman, Eryn Norman and Nalijah Kirland; sisters, Martha York, Reatha Peters, Brenda Sightler and Iris Kincade; brothers,Charlie R. Sharpe, Joseph E. Milton "Joey" and Johnny Milton.
