Obituary of James Robinson

Memorial services for James "Ray" Robinson, Sr, 81, will be held at 7:00pm Monday, January 21, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel; Reverend Lance Henderson will be officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00pm until the hour of service at the funeral home. Mr. Robinson passed away Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born in 1932 in North, SC, and was the son of the late Phillip Ellison Robinson and Irene Boles Robinson. He was a graduate of Dreher High School in 1950 and USC in 1960. He served his country in the US Air Force and retired from the SC Dept. of Juvenile Justice after 32 years of service. In recognition for his commitment to public service, Mr. Robinson was honored with the William L. Frederick award by the National Association of Juvenile Compact Administrators. Surviving are daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Locklear of West Columbia; son, James Ray "Robbie" Robinson, Jr. (Blair) of Lexington; step-daughter, Julie Gravedoni; step-sons, John and Mark Gravedoni; brother, Gene Robinson of West Columbia; grandchildren, Sadie and Kasey Locklear, Mily and Henry Robinson; step-grandchildren, Candice Uyeda, Shannon Burrell, Brandy Jumper and Rachael Hopper and 12 great-grandchildren.
