Obituary of Nellie Jones

HOPKINS: Nellie Ruth (Martin) Jones, 82, of Hopkins, entered into her heavenly home, Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Born Tuesday, December 29, 1930, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late M.C. and Ethel (Goff) Martin. She was saved by Jesus, God's son, Lord and Savior. She was a life member of Mt. Elon Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Lower Richland Chapter No. 295, as well as the Columbia Gem and Mineral Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Denley Wylie Jones with whom she shared a union of more than 57 years; daughter, Lucy Enfinger (Eddie); three sisters, Margie and Mary Martin and Ellen Martin Chambers; two brothers, Bruce and Herbert Martin; as well as a grandson, Jeremy Welch. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Kay Thompson (Billy); three grandchildren, Heidi Harper, Bill Thompson (Michelle) and Mandy Moore (Randy); and six great grandchildren, Rachel, Adam, Caiman, Emily, Sarah and Ashlyn. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Mount Elon Baptist Church, 740 Mount Elon Church Road, Hopkins, SC 29061, with Pastor Laverne Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will include, Ronnie Culley, Gary Hert, Mack and Charlie Yelton, Phillip Jones and Coy McCormick. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Meetze and Jimmy Scarborough.
