Obituary of Ola Steele Browder

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for Ruth Steele Browder, 89, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Elford Roof and Pastor Kay Overcash. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the CDC Building. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2491 Emanuel Church Road, West Columbia, SC 29170 or to a charity of one's choice. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Ruth, widow of Henry Austin Browder, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013. Born in Lexington County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel W. Steele and Mattie Wilson Steele. She was a lifetime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Adult One Sunday School Class and the Priscilla Women's Circle. Ruth also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Sybil Hudson (Jim) of Columbia; sons, Fred Browder (Llewellyn), Rick Browder (Pat) and Wade Browder (Joyce) all of West Columbia; sister-in-law, Mary Steele of West Columbia; brother, Kenneth Steele (Mae) of West Columbia; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel W. Steele, Jr. "Dub".
