Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeh Benton Brown

Services for Dorothy Elizabeth Benton Brown, 78, will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Pastor Jerry Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Brown, wife of Vernon W. Brown, widow of Marvin Benton went to be with our Lord and Savior Saturday, February 23, 2013. Born in Lancaster, SC, she was the daughter of the late Julius Elwood and Edna (Neeley) Fox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Carol Adams. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by family and friends. Surviving are her husband, Vernon Brown; sons; Dale (Doris), Lee (Margaret), Mike, and Kenny (Annie); grandchildren, Vanessa, Crystal, Kenneth II, Derek, Erica, and Heidi; great grandchildren, Tyler, Sadie, Christian, Jaleigh, Reagan and Shaun. The family wants to recognize and thank Dr. John Gould for the many years of medical care and heart felt compassion he provided to our mother. The family also wants to extend a very special thank you to our wonderful "sister," Rita, who provided 3 years of loving care and friendship to our mother.
