Obituary of Charles Alton Driggers

COLUMBIA: Charles "Cha Cha" A. Driggers, 72, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Palmetto Health Baptist. He was born May 17, 1940, in Columbia, SC. The son of the late Marvin D. and Mary C. Driggers. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Claudia Strange Driggers; daughters, Kathy D. Willis of Lexington and Susan Knafelc (Gary) of Columbia; grandchildren, Dylan S. Willis of Lexington, Brandi N. Willis of Lexington and Trey Knafelc of Columbia. Charlie was preceded in death by two brothers, David "Billy" Driggers and James F. Driggers, one sister, Shelby J. Driggers, and one son-in-law, Terry L. Willis. Charlie owned and operated Charles Driggers Plumbing Company for 26 years. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, golfing, and bowling but most of all he loved to tell jokes and spend time with his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Driggers, James "Skeeter" Driggers, Ronald Elmore, Donald Knox, Victor Jordan, Jerome Clamp and Randy Elmore. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Hornsby. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
