Obituary of Hazel Thomas Kiser

COLUMBIA: Hazel Thomas Kiser, 82, formerly of Forest City, NC, entered into rest, March 6, 2013, at Agape of West Columbia. Born October 3, 1930, in Forest City, NC, she was the daughter of the late John and Carrie (Street) Thomas. Mrs. Kiser was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Forest City, NC for most her adult life. She was very active in the Sunday School Class at Temple Baptist Church, Columbia, SC. Mrs. Kiser was an active member of her union, CWA (Communication Workers of America) during her employment with Western Electric Company. During tax season, Mrs. Kiser was a tax consultant for H&R Block, Columbia. She was a proud mother and would often say that she was blessed with two very special granddaughters, Emily and Rachel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, George Blanton Kiser; and two brothers, Glen and Jim Thomas. Mrs. Kiser is survived by her son, John Randall "Randy" Kiser and his wife Martha, of Columbia, MO; and two granddaughters, Emily Kiser, of St. Louis, MO, and Rachel Kiser of Columbia, MO. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, 760 Bethany Church Road, Forest City, NC 28043, with Reverend Charles Street officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., on Friday, March 8, 2013, at Padgett & King Mortuary, 227 East Main Street, Forest City, NC 28043. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the S.P.C.A., 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.
