Obituary of Elery McKay

WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral service for E. L. "Pete" McKay, Jr., 73, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Reverend Joe Copeland. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to EmmanuWheel, 566 Rawl Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mr. McKay passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late E.L. McKay, Sr., and Ruth Rebecca Roland. He served in the U.S. Navy and is a retired law enforcement officer. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. Surviving is his sister, Elizabeth McKay; his children, Penelope "Pam" Baker, Rusty McKay, Sheryl Celorier, and Kim Seawell (Robbie); grandchildren, Jason Baker, Dr. Brandi Baker, Darren Celorier, Amber Celorier (Fahad), Brandon Baker, Britney Baker, Kristin Seawell, John Robert Seawell, II, Noah Seawell, and Sebastian Seawell; great grandchildren, Tylden, Logan, and soon to be, Gabriel Elery, along with a very special niece, Vickie Lynn Chavis, and many other nieces and nephews; also his beloved pugs, King and Tiny. Mr. McKay was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Janice Smith McKay.
