Obituary of Johnny Sullivan

SWANSEA: Funeral service for Johnny E. Sullivan, Sr., 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, officiated by Reverend Jewell Jeffcoat. Interment will follow in Olympia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Sullivan passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Floyd William Sullivan and Ola Virginia Medlin Sullivan. He served his country in the Army, Navy and Air Force in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Westside Holiness Church. He was retired from Owens Steel. He was a member of the Lexington Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Jamil Shrine Temple and AAONMS. Survivors include: daughters, Diane Laird Morgan (Gerald) of Atmore, AL and Deborah Ann Foster of Swansea; sons, Johnny Sullivan, Jr., (Sonja) of West Columbia and David Sullivan (Helena) of Swansea; sisters, Joyce Jeffcoat of Pelion and Gerene Wingard of Columbia; brothers, W.F. Sullivan of St. Matthews and Donald Sullivan of San Antonio, TX; also seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Sullivan was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bachman Sullivan and his sister, Betty Spires.
