Obituary of Grace Marie Johnson

Grace Marie Johnson, 71, of Columbia, Entered into Rest, Monday, March 18, 2013, at Palmetto Health Baptist. Born Friday, December 5, 1941, in Sylvania, GA, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lula Mae (Jones) Johnson. A member of Word of God Church Ministries, Mrs. Johnson had been employed with the Department of Mental Health for more than 20 years. On May 24, 1960 she graduated from Landrum Burgess High School, in Millen, GA, and then later, on February 2, 1976 she graduated from the Mandl School of Dental Assisting, and practiced in Brooklyn, NY for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Welch, as well as a sister Pearl. She is survived by three children, Robert E. Welch and his wife, April, Lorraine J. Welch and Celeste D. Welch; three siblings, Wilbert, Martha and Robert; six grandchildren, Valerie, Monique, Christine, Jamar, Jamila and Amber; great grandchildren, Kaelan and three others; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M., on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Pastor Aiken officiating.
