Obituary of Cecile Wingard

WEST COLUMBIA: Cecile Roof Wingard, 95, of West Columbia, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Monday, March 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, officiated by Reverend Eric Friedrichs. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary A. Weathersby, John R. Long, Bryan M. Addy, Jason S. Addy, Austin Weathersby, Alex Weathersby, Bob Wingard and Charles Wingard. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class, Mike Neal, Wayne Eargle, Perry Bouknight, Dr. Jeff Hook, Jeff Price, Ryan Price, Wynne Price, Ronnie Fulmer, Joey Henslee, and Parker Boulware. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will also gather at the Fellowship Hall following services. Mrs. Wingard was born in West Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel M. Roof and Myrtie Roof. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church and a lifelong resident of West Columbia. Mrs. Wingard was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, WELCA, (Women's Organization at Church), Youth Advisor for many years at Mt. Hermon, a member of the Food Committee, Woodmen of the World, Lodge 1276, and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 7 Lexington. She loved working in her garden and talking on the phone; she loved her family and loved the Lord. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building on Holy Ground Fund, c/o Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, 3011 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. Survivors include: her daughters, Dianne W. Weathersby (GA) and Ann R. Addy (Clifton) all of West Columbia; grandchildren, Gary A. Weathersby (Angie) of Lexington, Kimberly W. Long (John) of West Columbia, Bryan M. Addy (Missy) of West Columbia and Jason S. Addy (Kim) of West Columbia; great grandchildren, Ashton, Austin, Alex, Ansley, Jackson, Luke, Olivia, Haley, Bryce, Karly and Tanner; nieces and nephews, Frances Price, Walter Hook, Bob Wingard, Charles Wingard, Susan Clifton, Stanette Brown, Janette Shealy, Lu Bickley, Billy Raines, Bobby Raines, Judy Addison and Lynn Wingard. Mrs. Wingard was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carl A. Wingard and her brother, Voight W. Roof.
