Obituary of Elizabeth Brown Forbes

COLUMBIA—A memorial service for Elizabeth "Babs" Brown Forbes, 82, of Columbia, will be held at noon, Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Clint Lawyer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Tri-County Hospice, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Ste. 100, Columbia, SC 29210 or a charity of your choice. Mrs. Forbes, beloved wife of the late Jacques "Jack" C. B. Forbes, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2013. Born in Bath, SC, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Morgan Brown and Ruby Mary Wooten Brown. She was a resident of Lexington since 2008 and formerly Spartanburg. She worked with the elderly in Spartanburg County as a Social Worker. She had two Bachelor Degrees from USC and was a member of the Kate Barry Chapter of DAR. She won many awards for her works of poetry. Surviving are her children, Judith Elaine Allen McChesney (Stanley) of Spartanburg, Vickie Spake (Kenneth D. "Deckie") of Chesnee, Sandra Pitts (James) of Raleigh, NC, Isabel Forbes of Spartanburg, Jeff Forbes of Spartanburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Yates and Connie Walker, both of West Columbia; brothers, Ray Brown (Candace) of Merritt Island, FL, David Brown (Flonise) of Cayce and Larry Brown (Becky) of Irmo. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eugene Brown.
