Obituary of Carl Tenney

WEST COLUMBIA: A memorial service for Carl D. Tenney, 75, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, in Nazareth Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Michael Watson. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidewater Hospice, 215 Medical Circle, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Tenney passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Born in Hackensack, NJ, he was a son of the late George M. Tenney and Alice A. Weedman Tenney. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and had retired from McEntire Air National Guard. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Joan Tenney of West Columbia; daughter, Cynthia Tenney of Lexington; sons, David Tenney of Atlanta and John Tenney (Mandy) of Lexington; sister, Gail Tenney of Waldwick, NJ; brothers, Alan Tenney of Teaneck, NJ, and Harry Tenney (Chica) of Charlottesville, VA; two grandchildren, Zachary Tenney and Emily Tenney; also a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Tenney was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eleanor Windner; and brothers, George Tenney, William Tenney, Donald Tenney, John Tenney and James Tenney. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Tidewater Hospice and to Dr. Raymond Diamond and staff for the care given to Mr. Tenney.
