Obituary of Robert Morris

EATONTON, GA—A memorial service for Robert Gary Morris, 57, of Eatonton, GA, formerly of West Columbia will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 in the Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the charity of one's choice in honor of Gary. Mr. Morris passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 in his home in Eatonton, GA. He was the son of Mary Younginer Morris and the late Robert B. Morris. Gary grew up in West Columbia and was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School in 1973 and a graduate of Midlands Technical College. He worked for Georgia Power Company for 30 years as an Instrument Technician at Plant Branch. Gary loved the outdoors, going barefoot, swimming, water skiing, snow skiing, and wandering in the woods. He loved to laugh and have fun and gave everybody goofy nicknames. He loved his dogs and old cars and loved to find "treasures" in out of the way places. Gary was a gentle soul with a big heart who wanted everybody to be happy. His smile and the mischievous twinkle in his eyes will be terribly missed by all who knew him. Surviving is his son: Jack Christian Morris of Milledgeville GA and his mother, Letha Morris, mother, Mary Younginer Morris of West Columbia; brothers, Steve Morris of Simpsonville and Mike Morris of West Columbia; sister, Gay Morris Watts (Eric) of Seymour, TN; girlfriend, Carolyn Morris. He was predeceased by his father, Robert B. Morris, who died in 2004.
