Mrs. Sproul departed this earthly life of Saturday, March 30, 2013 at her residence after a seven year struggle with dementia. Blanche was born in Charlotte, NC to Alexander M. Sims and Martha Crenshaw Sims. She was a 1967 graduate of the University of South Carolina and a former counselor with the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department. Blanche was also a former co-owner of the House of Glass in Five Points. She retired from the SCDOT in 2003 as the Head of the Environmental section. Blanche had a great love for animals to include the herd of goats that she had at her father's farm up until a couple of years ago. Blanche was predeceased by her mother, Martha Crenshaw Sims. Those left to cherish her fond memories are her loving and devoted husband of 35 years, Robert Sproul; her father, Alexander M. Sims; her brother, William A. Sims; and a host of other loving relatives and friends that will miss her dearly. Special appreciation is extended to Blanche's caregivers, Ms. Mamie McGill, Ms. Juanita Coleman, and Ms. Lashaunda Green, who are angels among us that cared for her during the last three and a half years of her illness.
