Obituary of Michael Martin

LEXINGTON: Memorial service for Michael Ellis Martin, 47, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at Life Springs Worship Center, officiated by Reverend Derrick V. Gardner. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Life Springs Worship Center, 5630 Platt Springs Road, Lexington, SC 29073, or to the charity of one's choice. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Martin passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. Born in Washington, DC, he was a son of Ellis W. Martin, Jr., and Joan Martin. He lived in the West Columbia and Lexington areas for 40 years. He graduated from Airport High School in 1983, and was a member of Life Springs Worship Center, and was a Royal Ranger Leader. Mr. Martin was co-owner of A & M Flooring, Inc. for 24 years. He was an avid golfer and fisherman; loved spending time with his nephews, family and friends, and loved Martin Family beach trips. Survivors include his parents; Ellis W. Martin, Jr., and Joan Martin; his grandmother, R. Louise Martin; sisters, Martha Sharpe (David) of Leesville, Marianne Adams (Greg) of Lexington and Jean Martin of West Columbia; brother, Alan Martin (Mitzi) of Lexington; nephews, Chris Williams (Sarah) of Lexington, Corey Williams (Aimee) of Georgia, Jake Branham of West Columbia, Matthew Martin and Luke Martin of Lexington. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Martin and grandfather, Ellis W. "Woody" Martin, Sr.
