Obituary of Margaret Cranshaw Weed

WEST COLUMBIA: Margaret Cranshaw Weed, 96, of West Columbia, entered into rest Thursday, April 4, 2013, NHC Healthcare, Lexington. Born Saturday, September 9, 1916, in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Bascom Donald and Mary M. (Blanton) Cranshaw. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Weed was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Weed, Sr. with whom she shared a devoted and blessed union of more than 27 years; son, James W. Weed, Jr., formerly of Lexington; two brothers, Bascom D. Cranshaw, Jr., twin-brother, Marvin B. Cranshaw; two sisters, Lena Roberta Brown, and Doris Cranshaw; and a grandson, Kevin Scott Weed. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Weed, of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Weed, of Florida; one grandson, James W. Weed, III, of Germany; granddaughter-in-law, Melanie Weed; and 4 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 3:00 P.M., in Shandon Presbyterian Church, 607 Woodrow Street, Columbia, SC 29205, with Rev. Tom S. Glenn officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on, Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209.
