Obituary of Sarah Tompkins Robinson

WEST COLUMBIA: Mrs. Sarah Caroline Tompkins Robinson, 92, widow of Lloyd Ellison Robinson, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013. Born July 5, 1920, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Pressley Blackwell Tompkins and Willie Collier Tompkins. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She was employed for many years as a social worker for the S.C. Department of Social Services. Mrs. Robinson was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church. Survivors include: daughters, Wilene Schumpert Cohen (Peter) of Seneca and Ginger Robinson Roper of Hawaii; grandchildren, Caroline Roper-Rolshausen (Philippe), Summer A. Roper, Elizabeth Schumpert, David R. Schumpert, III, Jessica Schumpert Cohen, Adam Ellison Schumpert (Martha) and Anna M. Sturkie; great grandchildren, Daniel X. McCall, Isaac Grasso, Oliver Grasso, Devon Grasso, Maxim Rolshausen, William Rolshausen and Bella Rose Schein; great great granddaughter, Amber Leia Jones; son-in-law, Drake Sturkie. Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Ellison Robinson, and daughter, Rita Robinson Sturkie. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. A Memorial service for Sarah Caroline Tompkins Robinson will be held at a later date.
