Obituary of Evelyn Head

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Evelyn Singletary Head "Fat Nanny", 90, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Bredholt. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the ALS, Lou Gehrigs Disease, SC Chapter, 1023 Wappoo Road, Ste. A19, Charleston, SC 29407. Mrs. Head, beloved wife of the late Wylie B. Head II, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013. Born November 10, 1922 in Cowards, SC, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Singletary and Lillie Stewart Singletary. She attended Seventh Day Adventist Church, formerly of River Drive in Columbia. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Branham (J.L.) of West Columbia; son, Wylie Benjamin Head III of Charleston; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jones of Florence. She was preceded in death by her son, Singletary "Terry" Head; three brothers, three sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson.
