Obituary of Stephen Hodges Deierlein

Stephen Hodges Deierlein Jr., 44, passed away Friday, April 12th, 2013. He was the loving son of Stephen Hodges Deierlein and Marteen Powell Deierlein and the older brother to Caroline Deierlein - Lowder (John) of Goose Creek, SC and Elizabeth Deierlein Scott of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by his grandmother, Vivian Hasset Powell of Conway, SC; his nephews, William Gage Lowder and Griffin Rivers Scott; five aunts, five uncles, a host of cousins, and friends that will miss him dearly. Stephen was a graduate of Lower Richland High School and was employed by Johnson Food Company at Fort Jackson. He was an avid Gamecock fan whose enthusiasm was undaunted. His love for his family and friends was evident in his everyday life. He was gentle of spirit and never met a stranger. He was also a devoted mentor to his nephews. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the overwhelming love and support from all who knew him and the attending staff of Palmetto Richland Trauma Intensive Care Unit. His Daddy said he was "small in stature but BIG at heart". Funeral services celebrating the life of Stephen Hodges Deierlein, Jr. will held at 2:00p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
