Obituary of Margaret Widener Gay

COLUMBIA: A graveside service for Margaret Widener Gay, 96, will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, 229 S. Saluda Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205. Mrs. Gay passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013. Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the later Sterling Widener and Annie Mae Grubbs Widener. She was a longtime member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: daughters, Janie Gay of Columbia, June G. Best (Richard) of Lexington and Judith G. Barbour of Columbia; grandchildren, Emily Barbour, Richard Best, Jr., and Matthew Best; great grandchildren, Clayton Barbour, Jessica Shutt; sister, Martha Bridges of Augusta, GA. Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doy F. Gay; brothers, Jack Widener, Estes Widener and Kenneth Widener and sister, Myrtle Bishop.
