Obituary of Floyd Everette Williams

Floyd Everett "Buddy" Williams, 88, of West Columbia, entered into rest, Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at his residence. Born Sunday, December 7, 1924, in Columbia, SC he was the son of the late Floyd and Minnie (Plyler) Williams. Mr. Williams was a member of Westside Baptist Church, West Columbia, and actively served in the US Navy as a Radioman, during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Mae (Medlin) Williams, with whom he shared a union of more than 50 years; three sisters, Rachel Wimberly, Gretta Horne and Nita Huffman; and a son-in-law, Bill Lingle. Mr. Williams is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Miller, Donna Gunter (Jimmy), and Ginny Lingle; five grandchildren, Rick Caughman, Joy and Christopher Gunter, Brian Sightler and Guy Lingle; three great grandchildren, Blake, Samantha and Alex; as well as very close friends, Jewel "Boone" and family, Dean Umbarger and family, Fred Gantt and family, and Pat Caughman. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, with Reverend Trey Pruitt officiating.
