Obituary of Marvel F. Recklinghausen

COLUMBIA—Marvel Fern Recklinghausen, 91, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013, born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Leemon and the late Hattie Forcier Leemon. She will be remembered as a great wife, loving mother as well as a very generous person. The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at the Sterling House, Legacy and Tidewater Hospice, Dr. Floyd Cribbs, along with Henry and Marie Maine for all their tender and loving care extended to Marvel during her illness. Surviving are her daughter, Valerie L. Ray and husband, Buddy of Columbia; step-grandsons, Christopher B. Ray and his spouse, Brian Maynor and Mark Alan Ray; step-great-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Ray and Christopher A. Ray and the family pet a beloved cat named Jazzie. Preceding her in death is her late husband, William Recklinghausen. A private graveside service for Marvel F. Recklinghausen, 91, of Columbia, will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Reverend Mark Bredholt. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Humane Society, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29204.
