Obituary of William Gardner Brock

WEST COLUMBIA-Funeral service for William Gardner Brock, known affectionately as "Pop" to all who knew him, 81, of West Columbia, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013 at West Side Baptist Church, with Reverend John McKeown officiating. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Brock passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013. Born in Chesterfield County, SC, he was the son of the late Willie and Dora Gibson Brock. He was a lifelong active member of West Side Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, active in missions, benevolence committee, and Men's Ministry. He was retired from Fairmont Tamper Railroad and Boykin Contracting. He was a member of the Antique Car Club Sandlapper Region AACA. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Sarah Brock; daughter, Tammy (Terry) Lundy; sons, Ronnie (Linda) Brock and Tom (Tory) Brock; sisters, Mary Turner and Juanita Mangum; daughter-in-law, Ellen Brock; seven grandchildren, Dr. Richard (Susan) Brock, Nick Brock, Dr. Jonathan (Mary Catherine) Brock, Dawn (Toby) Pokorney; Colby Brock, Emma Gaulke and Jackson Gaulke; and five great-grandchildren, Will Brock, Hope Brock, Toby Brock, Ruby Brock and Samara Pokorney; and many nieces, nephews, and family members. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tom Brock, Jr. and brothers, Charles Brock and Perry Brock.
