Obituary of John Frederick Huiett

SANDY RUN—Funeral services for John Frederick Huiett, 79, of Sandy Run, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at New Life Community Church in Irmo. Officiating will be Pastor Ray Hewitt. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Mr. Huiett, beloved husband of Carolyn Jeffers Huiett, passed away on June 8, 2013. Born in Winnsboro, he was the son of the late Luther Ray Huiett and Almeta Bland Huiett. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was known for his sense of humor, compassion and devotion to family and faith. He received recognition as Staff Sergeant for his 25 years of service in the Armed Forces of the United States. After retirement, he was a driver for Heathwood Hall Episcopal School and was an employee of Publix on Rosewood Drive; he also retired from South Carolina Electric and Gas. Surviving in addition to his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Sharon Huiett Neese of Columbia, Karen H. Collins (Randy) of Columbia and Suzanne H. Etheredge (Dargan) of Sandy Run; son, John Huiett, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Joshua Norris, Andrew Collins and Kareline Etheredge; great-grandchildren, Taylor Powell and Katie Lynn Norris; brother, Thomas M. Huiett of Simpsonville; also survived by loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Luther Ray Huiett, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Agnes Huiett. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Palmetto Health Richland and his hospice staff for their devotion and loving care.
