Obituary of Betty Copeland Senn

Betty Copeland Senn, 87, entered into rest, Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at The Rice Estate. Born Tuesday, November 17, 1925, in Ehrhardt, SC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Wingard and Elizabeth Mary (Baston) Copeland. A graduate of Ehrhardt High School, Betty also attended Newberry College where she received a Business Certificate. Following college, she worked for the US Maritime Commission for two years, and later retired from the SC Farm Bureau Insurance Company after 34 years of dedicated service. She was a Comprehensive Auto Specialist and received the Distinguished Service Award from Farm Bureau. Betty was former President of the Happy Wanderers for 3 years; President of her Sunday School Class; delivered Meals on Wheels for many years; was President of Esther Circle at Incarnation Lutheran, on church council and was the pianist for the couples Sunday School Class. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Troy E. Senn; and daughter, Elaine S. Cheek. She is survived by her son, Carroll W. Senn (Linda), of Columbia; daughter, Marie S. Johnston (Greg), of Columbia; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one more on the way. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Monday, June 17, 2013, at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 3005 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205, with Rev. Dr. James C. Parham, III, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the parlor at Incarnation Lutheran Church. Honorary pallbearers will include, Michael E. Senn, Troy Cheek, Jason W. and Marcus G. Johnston, Mason Senn, Steven Cheek and Jim Swick. Interment services are private and will be held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Senior Resources, ATTN: Meals on Wheels, 2817 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205.
