Obituary of John Duncan Clark

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for John Duncan Clark, 86, of West Columbia, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor John Rogers. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Edwards Memorial ARP Church, 1600 Summerland Drive, Cayce, SC 29033 or the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Ste. 301, Cayce, SC 29033. Mr. Clark, beloved husband for 58 years to the late Miriam Truesdale Clark, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. Born in Jefferson, SC, he was the son of the late James Ellis Clark and Janie Chapman Clark. He was a lifetime area resident and a member of Edwards Memorial ARP Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He was owner and operator of J.D. Clark's Exxon for many years. Surviving are his daughters, Carolyn Doty (Jim) of West Columbia, Sharon Santana of West Columbia, Janice Buice (Gary) of Greenville, and Patricia Beatty (Rick) of Lexington; eight grandchildren and a sister, Margie Fender of Batesburg.
