Obituary of Dalton Esco Goodwin

WEST COLUMBIA—Dalton Esco Goodwin, 94, of West Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013. Born in Gaston, he was the son of the late Veston Lee and Corrie Berry Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. He retired as a Civil servant from Ft. Jackson. Surviving are his sons, Dalton B. Goodwin (Judy) of Kernersville, NC and Nicky Goodwin (Dale) of Holly Hill; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Bertie Mae Hendrix of West Columbia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Helen W. Goodwin; five brothers, Theron, George "Duffy", Ed, Woodrow and Orester Goodwin; sister, Gertie Lee Elvington. The family will greet friends from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. A graveside service will be private.
