Obituary of Alma Rabon Goodwin

CAYCE—Alma Rabon Goodwin, 87, died peacefully at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital on Saturday, June 22. Mrs. Goodwin was the daughter of the late John M. Rabon and Ola Kelly Rabon. She was born on October 17, 1925, in Kershaw County. Her family moved to Cayce when she was a child. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years in 2008, Harrison Lee "Bub" Goodwin, two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Marion "Snuffy" Goodwin and his wife, Delores; granddaughters, Lisa Goodwin Rainey and Dava Goodwin; two great-grandsons, Tripp and Reid Rainey; sisters, Bernice Scott and Lois Sightler and life-long friend, Louise Wise who she counted as a sister. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Mrs. Goodwin retired from Tapp's Department Store on Main Street in Columbia. She was a longtime member of Cayce First Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Allison III and the hospice care workers at Pathways Hospice for their loving support. We would like to give a special thank you to Jessica Olson, Baptist Hospital Hospice Nurse. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 27, from 4-6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel, 200 State Street. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery on Garners Ferry Road, Columbia. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Pete Cassidy. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 600 Holland Avenue, Cayce. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
