Obituary of Frances Bowers Williams

COLUMBIA— A graveside service for Frances B. Williams, 87, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Terry Smoak. The family will greet friends from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. Frances Bowers Williams, widow of George Allen Williams entered into our heavenly kingdom on Sunday, June 23, 2013. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Elizabethton, TN the daughter of the late William L. Bowers, Sr. and Gertrude Hice Bowers. Frances Williams was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and the wellbeing and care of this extended family was her lifetime priority and success. In addition to being the family matriarch she was also a successful business woman in partnership with her husband working many years with Eckerd Drugs and Russell Stover Candies. She was also a devoted and vibrant member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. Her deep and abiding faith was daily evident in her care of family and friends. Frances was predeceased by her husband George Allen Williams. She is survived by her sons, Richard Allen Williams and Jerry Lynn Williams (Paulette) of Columbia; sister, Bernice Davis; brothers, Arthur "Deacon" Bowers, Charles Bowers and Fred Bowers Elizabethton,TN; grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams Neeley (Brian), Eva Kathleen Williams and Matthew Henry Williams; two great-grandchildren all of Columbia. Frances was truly the best combination of grace, kindness, and humility. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Ste. L, Anderson, SC 29621 in Frances' memory.
