Obituary of Thomas Bruce Smith

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Thomas Bruce Smith, 75, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Rev. Steven Allen will officiate. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry. The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Mr. Smith, beloved husband of the late Betty Livingston Smith, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, he was the son of the Malcolm E. Smith and Nina Meeks Smith. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church and Sinclair Masonic Lodge and Jamil Shriners, Scottish Rites, and Son of Confederate Veterans. Mr. Smith attended Newberry College and retired from SLED after 17 years of service. Surviving are his son, Russell Kurt Smith (Denise) of Lexington; grandson, Zachary Smith (Ellen) of Ballentine and great-granddaughter, Bristol Smith of Rock Hill.
