Obituary of Linwood Clifton Dowdy

A celebration of life honoring Linwood Clifton Dowdy, 78, of West Columbia, will be held at 2pm Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive Suite 301, Cayce SC 29033. Born in Portsmouth, VA on September 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Nelson Mack Dowdy, Sr. and Katie Snyder Dowdy. He was a member of Summerville Presbyterian Church and Summerville Masonic Lodge 234 AFM. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that enjoyed spending time with his family and woodworking. He is survived by his loving wife of 58years, Carolyn Dowdy; daughter, Lynne Brown (Mike) of West Columbia; son, Brian N. Dowdy of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Brian "BJ" Dowdy, Jr., Jennifer Jackson (Randy) and Justin Linwood Brown. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Nelson Mac Dowdy, Jr.
