Obituary of Virginia R. Younginer

CAYCE—A memorial service for Virginia Younginer, 83, of Cayce, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia. Officiating will be Rev. George Head. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC 29210. Mrs. Younginer, beloved wife of the late William Glenn Younginer, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013. Born in Bennettsville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Earl Henry Robinson and Theo Steen Robinson. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She retired from WISTV after 25 years and then worked at WSCQ Radio for13 years. She was an avid bowler and was the Women's International Bowlers Congress, Singles Champion in 1971 and was inducted into the SC Bowlers Association Hall of Fame in 1980 and Columbia Women's Bowlers Association Hall of Fame in 1985. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Y. Mims (Simon) of Cayce, Debbie Y. King (Tom) of Nashville, TN and Dena Y. Dickerson (Joe) of West Columbia; seven grandchildren, ten great -grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Younginer and a brother and sister.
