Obituary of Virginia Elaine Hall

SPRINGDALE—Funeral services for Virginia Elaine Metcalf Hall, 84, of Springdale will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013 at State Street Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Tommy Pillow. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Link Crapps, Hal Derrick, Nicholas Derrick, Randy Gumwall, Chris Mitchum and Brady Spires. Honorary pallbearers will be the Hope Sunday School Class. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mrs. Hall, widow of the late Winfred E. Hall, Sr. whom she was married to for 23 years, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Born in Weaverville, NC, she was a daughter of Rachel Augustus Metcalf and Beulah Head Metcalf. She was a lifelong area resident and a devoted member of State Street Baptist Church for over 40 years and was in the Hope Sunday School Class and she was a member of the Eastern Star in Cayce. She retired after 44 years from Atlantic Coast Life Insurance. Memorials may be made in her honor to South Carolina Heart Association, 2001 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29204. Surviving is her daughter, Linda Crapps (Bobby) of Springdale; son, Winfred E. "Winkie" Hall, Jr. (Maria); 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
