Obituary of Charles J. Broxton

WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for Charles J. Broxton, 76, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Timmy Lee, Glenn Cales, Mark Fernell, Chad Fernell, Gabriel Colbert, Blaze Spires, Brantley Broxton and Dustin Whaley. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Mr. Broxton passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013. Born in Opp, Alabama, he was the son of the late Bascomb Broxton and Agnes Spicer Broxton. He was a lifelong area resident of West Columbia. Mr. Broxton was owner and operator of Broxton's Body Shop in Columbia for over 50 years and was an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving are his sons, William Broxton (Angie) of Lexington, Chaz Broxton of West Columbia and Charlie Broxton (Brittany) of Lexington; five grandchildren, Dustin Whaley, Courtney Lee-Broxton "Honeybun", Ashton Broxton "Punkin", Brantley Broxton "Pistolball" and Landin Broxton "Turkey butt with the million dollar smile".
